I think SALO has probably been submitted a few times and that the entry in the database is from a previous submission that did not pass.

Not too sure of the full NZ history of CH, but i know for sure that the latest two-disc release (from Siren I think - R4) was banned because of the animal cruelty

They should always have accurate information on their site. They send mixed messages to people, which is my main beef. Why can I watch something at a film festival or at a University but not in my own home? You shouldn't be able to see the film at all becuase if us New Zealanders are so affected by things, seeing them once should be enough to corrupt us all  and send us on killing sprees.

I think they need more information about releases and less censorship. I don't mind if a description says, "Contains drug use, midgets, musical theatre and anal sex with fish" because I can then make an informed decision as for whether I want to see it.

I wonder if The Human Centipede will get an NZ release...?

You got a spare hour or two? This is probably the best article  I have read on the film. I got a lot of it but not as in depth as this guy did.

I just got back from the UWM screening of this.  All in all I liked it.  It was slow for awhile and when the torture started I was kinda thinking really?  Luckily the torture/masochism wasn't really the pay off.  I don't feel this would've had nearly the same impact if I watched it in the comfort of my home.  Plus, I had a great time watching people cringe toward the end...priceless.

Yeah I don't think it would haev had the same impact either, there was something about seeing a vagina that big that was just like fuck. It  made me cringe me on the big screen but dunno how effective it would have been if I'd watched it at home. There was lots of gagging and screaming at the screening I went to. Some guy ran out of the hall.

(And Salo is definately legally available on DVD/VHS in NZ now. I know cause I was the one that put up a fight to get my copy imported years ago and succeeded in eventually having it classified)

It's been on the main page of the site in the coming soon section for  about 3 weeks nearly  Tongue

I think I'm going to get the blu-ray from the UK, works out cheaper than the NZ dvd release
